Nairobi County, Kenya: Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko recently revealed his withdrawal from the transfer deed to Nairobi Metropolitan (NMS)  Service citing lots of mistreatment from NMS and external forces.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Mike Sonko’s Lawyer, Harrison Kinyanjui explained that there appeared dispute and that Governor  Sonko has stopped working according to the deed of transfer which was signed between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta thereby transferring some four functions to the NMS.

This comes just five months after signing the deal at State House. His lead counsel Harrison Kinyanjui says Sonko only endured frustrations, mistreatment, and insults from NMS officials during the five months.

He went ahead to state that part of the deed under which they agreed to work with NMS was by mutual and separation of some powers..but as things are spanning out it’s like NMS boss major Mohammed Badi has taken over everything including some assets belonging to the county which were not part of the deal.

Speaking at a local television station. Sonko spokesman Ben Mulwa termed as lack of information attempts by NMS boss to claim land and house belonging to the former mayor under defunct Nairobi city county. “How do you claim things which you found belonging to county and start removing Governor from being the manager? Posed Mulwa who accused NMS of working with external forces against Sonko war of cartels under the guise of few transferred functions through the deed. 

He explained it’s through these machinations that they have decided to withdraw from the deed..it’s not helping at all. Sonko has done a lot and we are now seeking to remain to do to continue working for Nairobi.

Sources said Governor Sonko had reached a point of no return and is now ready for anything, a move analysts term is going to make it hard for NMS should Sonko make good the threat.

However NMS Director General Major Mohammed Badi by saying that it’s Nairobi people who need services and that they will decide.
