Speaking after meeting with youth groups and students in Nairobi, Ngatia pledged to fix unemployment currently among the youth. “First, I will have a round table with all major industries in Nairobi to find a way them employing the youth. I will bring investors using my networks as President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry so that we can persuade them to come to Kenya to start industries and factories that can help employ our young men and women from colleges and universities” he said.

But, before that, my Administration will work on how to improve the City infrastructure to ease their works once they start such businesses said Ngatia.

“I want this City to get good roads once am elected in office. That can be done by increasing markets, expanding rates, this will net more revenue for the County so that services can be provided to the residents of Nairobi, at ease.  I will also ensure as a county we don’t lose revenue. We will put more safeguards by introducing systems in place that will detect theft of revenue.  Instead, we will expand it by encouraging people to open more businesses big tradings which can employ many, and get tax reliefs,” added Ngatia.

Investors can come set up industries and companies and in return, we harmonize business permits for them. We can also apply for tax holidays.  This can be achieved in collaboration with The National Executive. Here I will use my good rapport with The Head of State who is sure will come from Azimio la Umoja Movement.

“We will also set up industrial parks. This we can achieve by identifying County lands that are currently not of any economical use for the county. Where there may be pending court cases will try to settle them amicably and revert such lands for public use” said Ngatia.

Others in the race are Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, Businessman Agnes Kagure, current County Senator Johnson Sakaja, Margaret Wanjiru, and Former Dagoreti MP Denis Waweru. Nairobi Senator Sakaja is vying on the Kenya Kwanza Alliance of DP William Ruto and Musalia Mudavadi.
