A recently held Science Cafe Forum that brought together different actors in media, civil society , diplomatic chore  and academia challenged people to take serious environmental mitigation and adaptation activities to combat climate change effects.

The meeting which was held at Nairobi, brought in discussants from (The Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (MESHA) , French Embassy , academia and civil Society.

Dr. David Williamson, Regional Director, French Institute of Development (FID) ,said that since global temperatures have been rising due to green house emissions, there was need to do something about the temperature rise by adapting .”Climate change impacts have brought adverse effects on human health , diseases like malaria, chikungunya and others have been reported to emerge and increase in infections.”DSC_0460.JPG

Professor Shem Wandiga , Director, Institute of Climate Change and Adaptation, Department of Chemistry , Nairobi University , said that if we have to change our economy we need to Increase food production.”Food production has been constant in Kenya and therefore with this changing climatic patterns, how do we increase food productivity?Every one has a role to play to see food productivity is increased and also waste has to be handled in a manner that would make it beneficial to people.
