Gor Mahia coach Ze Maria is the first recipient of the Fidelity Insurance/Sjak coach of the month of March after leading record holders Gor Mahia to two wins last Month.

Gor finished trophyless last season a result that the Brazilian says they are looking into ways to overturn.

Commenting at their training grounds on Wednesday while receiving a cheque of Sh,50,000 and a personalized plaque, Ze Maria urged his players to focus and maintain the momentum.

“The players deserve commendation for the good start we have had. It’s important that we keep this up throughout the campaign. Our target, as usual, is to finish number one. Last year, I found the team in 12th place and we still managed to finish second and we reached the final of the KPL Top 8 and the semis of the GOtv Shield. These are performances we must try and improve on,” said Ze Maria.

Gor is currently on top of the Sportpesa Premier League table standing with 12 points ahead of Posta Rangers who are second on eleven points from five rounds of matches.

This is the second time the Brazilian is going home with the coveted Monthly award after winning it last season.

“Every other team wants to beat Gor that is why we have to be fully focused in all our matches regardless of the history of our opponents.” said Ze Maria.

Gor will face defending champions Tusker in their round six fixture at Afraha Stadium on Saturday.
